1st Meeting: Eeklo (Belgium)

From 25th to 31st October we all met in Eeklo, Belgium. We travelled with three students: Eliana Cairós (1st Bachillerato), Melani Ríos y Andrea Cruz (both from 2nd Bachillerato); and two teachers: María Antuña (Music) and myself, Sandra Reyes (Spanish Language and Literature). One of the aims of this project is to speak English. A task we had to accomplish from the very beginning, because the students met their host families and the teachers, our partners from Belgium, Poland and Finland.

Teacher's group

We began with a visit to the school: 2800 students, 300 teachers, 10 headmasters... it's really big!

Our girls met their host friends:
In Gent, one of the most important cities in Belgium, we took a walk through the Turkish neighbourhood. We could visit a mosque and eat some exotic food:

We made aldo two very interesting visits: one to a psychiatric hospital museum, and the other to Breendonk, a former work camp during the Second World War.

In the afternoon, we visit the famous city of Antwerp (also called Antwerpen, Anvers or Amberes) where many people from all over the world live there: Orthodox Jews, Indians, Chinese and Africans. Antwerp is very know by the diamonds business. It has one of the most beautiful train stations in Europe. You can see it in this video, where people suddenly start dancing in front of the surprised ones who passed by. Enjoy it!

We really had a very good time while in Eeklo with our friends. We are looking forward to our next meeting here in Tenerife!

LOGO COMPETITION

One of our first tasks was choosing a logo for our project. Many of our students participated in the logo competition.
The three best came with us to Belgium.

There, we chose the definitive one.
